'Blooms on Greenwood' in Del Rio TX

This mural was commissioned by Casa de la Cultura with the goal of maintaining the appeal of an iconic yellow taxi cab service once based out of the mural's now home. The bright yellow wall in Del Rio's downtown landscape was an indelible landmark from the perspective of many and needed to be treated as such.

The building is now home to Cardinal Points Coffee Shop. In conjunction with Casa de la Cultura and the Owners of Cardinal Points Coffee shop, an approved sketch served as inspiration for the final piece that stands today.

Initial Concept Sketch and Cardinal Points Storefront.

'Blooms on Greenwood' is as piece inspired by native Texas wildflowers. The scale of the flowers serve as an invitation to a more walkable downtown area by inviting passersby to immerse themselves in Del Rio's Historic Downtown scene. This, along with the juxtaposition of urban and natural scenery makes for a striking display of public art. Prints and postcards of this mural can be found at www.artbybianka.com

This mural is located at 115 E Greenwood St, Del Rio, TX.
