  This mural was commissioned by Casa de la Cultura with the goal of maintaining the appeal of an iconic yellow taxi cab service once based out of the mural's now home. The bright yellow wall in Del Rio's downtown landscape was an indelible landmark from the perspective of many and needed to be treated as such.  The building is now home to Cardinal Points Coffee Shop. 'Sol del rio' meaning 'sun of the river' in Spanish was created as a demonstration of colorful celebration that enriches the city of Del Rio and its culture. As a sunset fills the sky with warm, vivid colors for a short moment, the beautiful display of color in folklorico dancing also appears as a flash of light, quickly disappearing.
